STEP 1: Be Ready to Import
You need only:
  • Business License
  • TPN (Taxpayer Number)
  • Bhutan bank account

STEP 2: Check the Product
Before shipping, check if your product needs approval.
  • Food β†’ BFDA permit
  • Medicine / Cosmetics β†’ DRA approval
  • Plants / Seeds β†’ BAFRA permit
  • Most other goods β†’ No permit needed
If unsure β†’ check first, don’t guess.

STEP 3: Get 3 Documents from Supplier
  1. Commercial Invoice
  2. Packing List
  3. Transport Document (AWB / Road note / Courier slip)

STEP 4: Goods Arrive in Bhutan
  • Road (Phuentsholing, Samdrup Jongkhar)
  • Air (Paro Airport)
  • Courier (DHL, FedEx, EMS)

STEP 5: Customs Clearance
  • Submit documents to Customs (DRC)
  • Goods may be inspected
  • Customs calculates duty & tax

STEP 6: Pay & Collect
  • Pay duty/tax
  • Collect your goods
